Summary

Description
English: Kanagawa Treaty, Page 1.Commodore Matthew Perry of the U.S. Navy demanded to open the Japanese ports of Shimoda and Hakodate for trade relationships, and the safety of shipwrecked American sailors. It has ended Japan's anti-foreign policies. The Kanagawa treaty soon led to another unequal treaty (extremely favorable to the US side) in 1858.
