Description
English: Drawing of schoolchidren of plantation workers in front of the statue of King Kamehameha I standing in Kapaʻau in Honolulu. Sculpted in 1881, bronze. Approx 8½ feet tall on a 10 foot concrete base. The pedestal has four bronze and gold leaf plaques with scenes from Kamehameha's life. Sculptor: Thomas Ridgeway Gould (1818–1881). This was the original casting that was recovered after a shipwreck in the Falklands. It was placed in front of the schoolhouse. Today, a visitor center stands at the location.
