English: A portrait of Jessie Webb, lecturer in history at the University of Melbourne, in academic dress, standing outside what is now the Old Law building at the University. Taken by Doris McKellar, date unknown (certainly between 1908 and 1944), though probably between 1914 and 1918, when McKellar took portraits of many University staff.
The original is a black and white transparency, 12 by 8.5 cm.

This work is in the public domain in the United States because it meets three requirements:
it was first published outside the United States (and not published in the U.S. within 30 days),
it was first published before 1 March 1989 without copyright notice or before 1964 without copyright renewal or before the source country established copyright relations with the United States,
it was in the public domain in its home country (Australia) on the URAA date (1 January 1996).
For background information, see the explanations on Non-U.S. copyrights. Even assuming the latest possible date (Webb died in 1944) the photograph would have been out of copyright in Australia on 1 Jan 1995. The photograph was part of a private collection donated to the University, and there is no indication it was ever published or registered for copyright in the US.
