| Description |
Indian spring parsley, Cymopterus aboriginum, California, White Mountains, Busher Creek, Juniper Mountain, Fishlake Valley drainage, elevation 1855 m (6085 ft). This regional endemic is found in the southwestern Great Basin and northern Mojave Desert of southwestern Nevada and adjacent eastern California, most frequently on carbonate or calcareous slopes and rock outcrops at middle elevations below about 2400 meters (7900 feet) elevation. Cymopterus cinerarius (gray wavewing) is similar and sometimes confused with this species, but differs in having rays that do not elongate in fruit, maintaining a dense head of flowers and fruits. Some lower-elevation reports of C. cinerarius turn out to be young C. aboriginum instead. |
