Illinois Iron and Bolt Company in the Dundee Township Historic District in Carpentersville (1871). It was founded in 1855 by George Marshall as a reaper factory. The company was incorporated in 1864. Julius Carpenter and Alfred Edwards bought the principal stock in 1868. Illinois Iron & Bolt grew to produce springs, wagon skein, clothes irons, copying presses, and ornamental iron products. The Star Manufacturing Company and Illinois Iron and Bolt were consolidated in 1912.
