Au centre un groupe de retraités joue aux boules sur la plage de Bibione en Italie, une station balnéaire populaire nichée entre Venise et Trieste

Le jeu n'a plus de sens, ils tuent le temps qui reste, devenus inutiles et impuissants, encerclés par un désert d'indifférence et inexorablement confinés.
