English: The image represents the history of the creative directors who have led the five most important Luxury Fashion Brands according to The Vogue Business Index: Spring/Summer 2023 [1] (Louis Vuitton, Dior, Gucci, Saint Laurent and Chanel), from their foundation until today.
It aims to show which were the creative directors responsible for overseeing the different collections within the selected brands and the duration of their tenures. It also wants to emphasize whether there have been enduring and consistent creative directions or, conversely, shorter and more fragmented ones. Finally, the image wants to highlight how some brands have decided to entrust the creative direction of the entire maison (and therefore of all the collections) exclusively to a single person, while other brands, during some periods in the past, or from a certain period until today, have decided to segment the creative direction in several parts: creative direction of menswear, womenswear and accessories collections. [1] The Vogue Business Index is a balanced scorecard for brands to discover how they match up against their competitors. At its core is a survey of more than 5,000 luxury consumers drawn from 11 key markets, revealing their views on brand desirability, status, quality and relevance, as well as their intent to buy. |
