Description
English: Historical dice from India, 19th century. Taken by User:Isomorphic at the Sackler Gallery in Washington, D.C. during the exhibit Asian Games. The Art of Contest. A different photo of the same dice is shown in the exhibitions companion book (Colin Mackenzie/ Irving Finkel, eds.: Asian Games. The Art of Contest. 2004, p. 38). More info from the book:
  • 4 bone dice from Madurai, with black inlaid material
  • 2 brass dice from Southern India, containing bells, one with rounded corners
  • a plastic die for Crown & Anchor
  • a miniature, oblong die from ivory
  • a set of fortune-telling dice of metal mounted on a spindle
