English: Himeji Castle, UNESCO World Heritage Site Ref. Number 661, is a hilltop Japanese castle complex located in Himeji, Hyōgo Prefecture. The castle is regarded as the finest surviving example of prototypical Japanese castle architecture, comprising a network of 83 buildings with advanced defensive systems from the feudal period.
Français : Le château de Himeji, inscrit au patrimoine mondial de l'UNESCO et désigné comme trésor national du Japon, est situé sur une colline dominant la ville de Himeji dans la préfecture de Hyōgo. Construit à partir de 1580 par Toyotomi Hideyoshi et au XVIIe siècle, il est considéré l'archétype des châteaux japonais, et est constitué d'un réseau de 83 bâtiments avec des systèmes défensifs avancés.
