Description

H.W.Corbett mansion and Henry Failing mansion beyond sitting in their Portland blocks. Pioneer Courthouse occupies block immediately to bottom left of picture. Taken from Central School tower, which was later moved and demolished to build the Portland Hotel, which in turn is now the Pioneer Courthouse Square in Portland Oregon. The Corbett mansion was demolished in 1936 after the death of H.W.Corbett's widow Emma, where she lived until her death. The part of the block on the near side of the house, her former "cow pasture", is now occupied by the Pacific Building and the area where the house and carriage house is shown here is now occupied by the Hilton Hotel Tower.
