Italiano: "Il ritratto è forse una derivazione dal perduto dipinto di Sebastiano del Piombo del 1532, citato dal Vasari e dal Borghini e probabilmente passato nelle collezioni di Francesco I di Francia. Questa versione è capostipite di un'altra serie di copie (coll. Martius; Napoli, museo di Capodimonte, Colorno, castello). Giulia Gonzaga (1513-1566), celebre per la sua bellezza, era figlia di Luigi conte di Sabbioneta e moglie di Vespasiano Colonna, conte di Fondi. Amata da Ippolito de' Medici, fu cantata dall'Ariosto (Orlando Furioso 46,7)" [1]
