Description

Detail of a ground level photograph taken at Auschwitz-Birkenau between February 9 and 11, 1943, showing the roof of the almost completely subterranean gas chamber of Crematorium II. The two dark short vertical shadows directly under the window are the two southernmost apertures for the respective Zyklon B insertion columns. The third is hidden behind the chimney and part of the fourth can just be seen to the left of it.
