To illustrate an article about a visual art movement, and to define and illustrate fluxus' original (radical) aims and intentions, using Maciunas' acerbic manifesto to counter later readings of fluxus as essentially whimsical. As a provocative manifesto, it was written to discussed and disseminated, and to define what is and isn't fluxus. To leave it out of the page on fluxus would seem pointless. |

- As a visual manifesto, the work is central to the aims and intentions of the fluxus group, and was always intended for dissemination, rather than commercial ownership or copyrightable property.
- The work is an important early document of Maciunas' intentions, and of his aversion to consumerist art. The work articulates a position that words alone would struggle to define so eloquently.
- Fluxus continues to be widely discussed in the loosest terms, without a study of specific works. This manifesto, along with Water Yam and the flux games and performance pieces such as Drip Event are crucial early incarnations of Fluxus works, and deserve to be included on the Fluxus page on wikipedia.
