Pencil (on paper) sketch titled "Ellora: Tandava from Dumar Lena (left), Nilkanth (centre), Figure from Cave XXIV," made in 1877 by surveyor: Burgess, James (1832-1916). The sketch shows (center and right) two statues of the goddess Ganga at the Ellora Caves site. In both Ganga is on her mount, the Makara, a mythical aquatic monster. The left statue was damaged at the time the sketch was made. Downloaded from this British Library Web Site by Fowler&fowler«Talk» 03:58, 5 May 2011 (UTC)
