English: As Universiti Putra Malaysia collaborate with the subsidiary of Tenaga Nasional Berhad named GSPARX Sdn. Bhd., an energy transition initiative called SURIA 16 was implemented. The operations and maintenance covered throughout contract period of 20 years.
Since 2022, solar panels has been installed on the roof of university buildings, including office, hall, mosque and hospital. Besides, the floating solar & walkway has been installed at the Engineering Complex and inaugurated on 20 November 2023. This floating solar & walkway able to generate the electrical energy up to 300 kWp. Whereas the total energy generate from SURIA 16 could up to 16.18 MWp and estimated to save RM 114 million for 25 years. |
