The flag description is as follows:
This is the official Village Flag of Put-In-Bay which is on South Bass island lake Erie.
The pennant shape of the flag is to honor the State of Ohio flag that has the same shape, since Put-In-Bay/south Bass island is in an Ohio island of Lake Erie.
The Blue top color signifies the Blue skies of the island.
The dark blue Flat top oval is a simplified representation of the harbor as seen from the top of Perry's Monument.
The Green represents the green lawns of the island being mostly made of limestone.
The "I" of P-I-B is Perry's Victory and International Peace Memorial (Perry's monument) which is 352 ft tall on the island and the islands most noted icon. The P-I-B using the monument as the "I" is often used by many of the island business's and easily identified.
The Sun and crescent moon represents the island is alive both night and day and the sun and Moon often shines clearly down upon the island.
the grapes and vines are to honor the great wine making history of the island.
The date is when the Village was officially incorporated.
The ship in the harbor represents one of the ships used (EX: Us brig Niagara) in the Battle of lake Erie of which Put-In-Bay was where the ships were harbored immediately before battle and where they returned to afterwards. It also represents the sailing/boating community history of the island and ongoing use of the harbor.
the harbor was placed at the foot of the flag so as to wave more like the waves do in the harbor. The monument was placed near the head of the flag to represent the unmoving steadfast peace that the monument represents.
