English: Salih Selek, Psychiatry Department, Faculty of Medicine, Harran University in Turkey found this document in Ottoman Empire archives. It was written in 1539 in Gaziantep, Turkey, formerly known as Aintab. He presents it in a paper https://dx.doi.org/10.1136/jme.2010.037713 Selek makes a complete translation. In the document a father gives permission for a surgeon to make an incision to remove urinary stones from his son. There is an agreed fee for the service, and in case of death of the patient, there will be no lawsuit.
