English: LNER Ivatt Atlantic at Finsbury Park.
View northward, towards Hitchin and the North; ex-Great Northern ECML. Ex-GN Ivatt Atlantic C1 4-4-2 No. 2825 on the 13.49 stopping train from Cambridge stands on the Seven Sisters Road Bridge at Finsbury Park. Having served as principal express locomotives on the GNR in the first two decades of the 20th Century, these capable engines were 'worked to the death' on secondary services until just after the Second World War, when they were supplanted by the new B1 4-6-0's. This is one of the survivors, No. 2825. [This is also one of my very first successful photographs, in 1946].
