The eccentricityof a movable cam which is finely graduated shows the diameter of any small body which is heldbetween a circular movable pin and the edge of the cam. The index always points to the centreof the circular pin or stud, and shows the normal distance between the surface of that stud and thesurface of the cam. See Compasses. HAND-TOOLS. 1831 3812.
