Feet from a case of partial hypertrophy of the foot
Description

Black and white photograph of 'partial hypertrophy' of the foot. The second toe of the left foot is the part most affected. The patient was a young 'Hindoo' [outdated term denoting a person living in the Indian subcontinent], aged 18. For details of the case see 'British Medical Journal' vol II (1891) pp188-189, where it is wrongly described as acromegaly. Photograph presented by Alfredo Antunes Kanthack, member of the Leprosy Commission, Simla, India [later pathologist to St Bartholomew's Hospital].
