Summary

Description
English: Early French banknote issue by République Française - Assignat for 125 livres, 1793 First Issue (Pick ref# A74).
The text Créé 7 Vendémiaire l'an 2eme de la République indicates the date of printing by the French Republican Calendar ("Created the 7th of Vendémiaire ("Time of the Grape Harvest"), Year II of the Republic" / September 28, 1793). Serie 1255 N. 708 means that this note is #708 of printing lot 1255.
The term Hypothéque sur les Domaines Nationaux translates as "Mortgaged on National Properties", meaning the Assignat is a promissory note backed by the government.
The warning on the top and bottom reads La loi punit de mort / le contrefacteur. / La Nation récompense / le Dénonciateur. and translates as "The Law punishes the Counterfeiter with death. The Nation rewards the Informer."
The motto on the sides is Liberté / Egalité / Unité / Individualité, which translates as "Liberty, Equality, Unity, Individuality".
