A hybrid between Dubautia menziesii (na‘ena‘e) and Argyroxiphium sandwicense (‘āhinahina, Haleakalā silversword), Haleakalā Crater. Note the side shoots on the rosette and flower stalk, and the taller plant with broader and less silvery leaves compared to a silversword. In addition, when the flowers open they will be yellow as in the Dubautia rather than red as in the silversword. Photo by Karl Magnacca.
