English: Optical mirror made of a double ring coupled to a waveguide. Forward propagating waves in the waveguide (green) couple to anti-clockwise traveling waves in the rings (green). Due to the inter-ring coupling, these waves couple to clockwise traveling waves in the rings (red), which in turn generate backward (reflected) waves in the waveguide (red). |
