Summary

Description
English: The relativistic Doppler shift formula is applicable to both sound and light. This spacetime diagram illustrates a source (tuning fork) and receiver. Two vibrations of the tuning fork at O and A. The signal propagates with speed equal to the magnitude of the worldline AB, and the proper duration of the pulse equals the magnitude of OB.
