Text Appearing Before Image: ck, Surgeon, of Totnes,he was born there, was a pupil of King Edward VI. Schoolin that town, served his articles as a solicitor, and practisedat Totnes up to the time of his death. For many years hewas Registrar of the Archdeaconry Court of Totnes. In the town affairs he took great interest; he enteredthe Town Council in i860. In 1877 was elected an Alderman,a position he held to his death. On four occasions he wasMayor of Totnes, 1865, 1884, 1885 and 1896 (Diamond Jubileeof Queen Victoria), and on the last occasion he attendedthe Queens levee. He was one of the Totnes EndowedSchool Governors, and took a deep interest in educationalmatters. He was greatly interested in whatever had to do withDevon, and especially in the topography of the County. E. W.
