The caption reads: "NOBILISSIMO, ANTIDOTO DELL' ELYXIR VITÆ"

Distilling found a home in the monastic workshop tradition. The Neapolitan friar Donato d’Eremita presented his “Elixir of Life” to distinguished visitors, including natural philosophers and royal officials who were concerned about the use of the new technology in the traditional pharmacopoeia.
