DescriptionDavid Shentow - Photo by Floralove Katz.jpg
English: Shentow holds a Jewish Star of David sewn by his father: in all Nazi-controlled states, Jews were forced to wear these identifiers that made them easy targets for torment, violent abuse, and deportations. The number "72585" was tattooed on his left arm the day he arrived in the Auschwitz-Birkenau extermination camp. Civilians were stripped of their names, their identities; roll-call was by these numbers. (Photo by Floralove Katz)
David Shentow agreed to pose for this photo, for Floralove Katz, to add to her film-interview with him, to the body of his courageous testimonies over decades, to inform about the horrors of the Holocaust.
