Shows Wesleydale mission station established in 1823 by Samuel Leigh and William White. The view is from above, looking down, with the mission buildings and fences to the right, tall trees (possibly kauri), the Kaeo River and exaggerated surrounding peaked hills, including the terraced conical shape of Pohue, at that stage the pa of the chief 'George' who blew up the Boyd in Whangaroa Harbour.
