English: Part of Dainihonshi, or the largest chronicle of Japan published between 1657 and 1906, total 402 volumes printed with woodblocks. The project was initiated by w:Mitsukuni Tokugawa in late 17th century, and it was concluded with volume 402 after many years since Japan had opened its borders to international trades and diplomacy in w:Meiji period. Recorded in kanbun 漢文, or adopted writing system written solely with Chinese characters.
