Summary
[edit]This example of a freestanding data booth is located in front of Pit B, Battery Cushing, Ft. Andrews, Boston, MA. The wooden stats at left hang in a metal framework and can be slid one by one in and out of the booth. These slats likely carried pieces of slate upon which aiming data for the Pit B mortars could be chalked and then slid out for display to the crews on the pit floor. The armored door to the booth is located on the side opposite the slats. This booth, like all the Ft. Andrews mortar pits, is now quite overgrown.
This image was taken in 2010 and looks southwesterly towards the roadway that runs E-W in front of both Btty Cushing pits and Pit A of Btty Whitman.
