Summary

Description
English: A coin of Nikephoros Melissones from his revolt in 1080-1081, likely from the mint of Nicaea. The obverse of the coin depicts the Virgin Mary, and on the reverse the unabbreviated legend reads "ΘΕΟΤΟΚΕ ΒΟΗΘΕΙ ΝΙΚΗΦΡω ΔΕCΠΟΤΙ Τω ΜΕΛΙϹΗΝω", "God-Bearer help the Despot Nikephoros Melissenos".
