Clarence Griffin was the pioneer of Scouting in Japan and organized the first Boy Scout troop, now called the IBS Troop 1, in 1911. He was also appointed "Commissioner of Boy Scouts in Japan" by B-P prior the the great earthquake of 1923. The earthquake nearly cost CG his life and he left Japan soon after recovering from injuries that he sustained in the earthquake.
