Summary
| Description |
English: Vimana, or the tower of temple. This tower is of the Jain temple in Chitharal, Tamilnadu. This temple was build in a natural cavern. The bas reliefs of this temple, which depicts the maha nirvana of Mahaveera and Padmavati are of historical importance. After the Chola invation in starting of 11th century, this temple started seeing it's decline. As of now, this Jain temple is known as "bhagavathi" temple which proves the hindu accession over the temple.
മലയാളം: തമിഴ്നാട്ടിലെ മാർത്താണ്ഡത്തിനടുത്തുള്ള ചിതറാലിൽ ഉള്ള ഒരു ജൈന ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന്റെ വിമാനമാണ് ചിത്രത്തിലുള്ളത്. 11ആം നൂറ്റാണ്ടിന്റെ ആരംഭത്തിൽ രാജരാജചോഴൻ ഒന്നാമൻ, കുലശേഖരമന്നനെ പരാജയപ്പെടുത്തിയ കാന്തള്ളൂർ പോരിനു ശേഷം ക്ഷേത്രം ക്ഷയിക്കുകയും പിൽക്കാലത്ത് ഭഗവതി കോവിൽ എന്നറിയപ്പെടുകയും ചെയ്തു. പ്രകൃത്യാലുള്ള ഗുഹയിൽ നിർമ്മിക്കപ്പെട്ട ഈ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ മഹാവീരന്റെയും പദ്മാവതിയുടെയും ശില്പങ്ങൾ കൊത്തി വയ്ച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. |
