Actually Olaus depicts the polypi (octopi) as such in Historia de Gentibus Septentrionalibus (1555) [1]. Cf. File:Olaus1555-p763-polypis.png. Ashton identifies this as Olaus's "kraken" and reproduces this animal's drawing full page [2] |
