English: Carol DiBattiste is Under Secretary of the Air Force, Washington, D.C. She is responsible for all actions of the Air Force on behalf of the secretary of the Air Force and is acting secretary in the secretary's absence. In that capacity, she oversees the recruiting, training, and equipping of more than 710,000 people and a budget of approximately $71 billion.

DiBattiste has had an extensive career in public service in the departments of Defense and Justice. Prior to being appointed to her current position, DiBattiste was the deputy U.S. attorney for the Southern District of Florida in Miami. Before that, she served as the principal deputy general counsel of the Navy, and was also the director of the Executive Office for United States Attorneys in Washington, D.C., where she oversaw and provided support to the 94 offices of the United States Attorneys. DiBattiste has also been the director of the Office of Legal Education for the Department of Justice and an assistant U.S. attorney prosecuting felonies involving predominantly narcotics cases.

In 1971, she enlisted in the Air Force serving five years as an accounting and finance specialist and recruiter. In 1976, DiBattiste was commissioned after completing Officer Training School. She served as an operations officer in a recruiting squadron and later as a judge advocate, circuit prosecutor and on the faculty of the Air Force Judge Advocate General School. She achieved the rank of major before retiring from the Air Force in 1991.
