Description

Cantharellus chicagoensis Leacock, J. Riddell, Rui Zhang & G.M Muell.

Image location: Core Chicago Region, Illinois, USA

2-5 cm. slowly rubescent. Spores stark white. Under Red oak throughout the region. Pileus remaining inrolled into maturity then becoming uneven. ridges on hymenium curling to appear almost anastomosing upon drying. Minute yellow basal mycelium binding soil.

Based on chemical features: DNA 28S sequence match.
