English: Belmont station, Surrey class 455/8 unit No 455 818 arrives at Belmont with the 12.14 to Epsom Downs. This branch, which was opened in 1865 to provide access to Epsom Racecourse, used to be a double track railway but was singled in the late 1980s and now sees only one train per hour. As there are no passing loops, the service cannot be improved and there are no longer any race specials this way. At Belmont, the main access used to be on the down side but this has now gone, and passengers must walk over the road bridge to get onto the sole platform.
