English: Up coal train at Beighton Junction.
View northward, towards Rotherham etc. on the ex-Midland main line Chesterfield - Rotherham (North Midland Railway 'Old Road') south of Woodhouse Mill Station, where a loop from the ex-Great Central Sheffield - Nottingham main line joined the two routes at Beighton Junction. The train is typical of the traffic at the time (1963), a coal train headed by ex-War Department 2-8-0 No. 90649. The high ground in the background is between Swallow Nest and Aston, and the M1 now runs very near here. [There were also several railway lines in this vicinity and it is difficult now to locate this scene precisely].
