DescriptionBeechwood from southwest, 590 Bellevue Avenue, Newport.jpg
English: Beechwood, located at 580 Bellevue Avenue in the Bellevue Avenue Historic District of Newport, Rhode Island, was built in 1851 and was designed in the Italianate style by Andrew Jackson Downing and Calvert Vaux for New York merchant Daniel Parrish. After a fire destroyed the house in 1855, it was rebuilt in 1857 by Downing. In 1880 it was purchased by William Backhouse Astor, Jr., who hired Richard Morris Hunt to restore it. It remained in the hands of the Astor family until 1940. It has had numerous owners since then, most recently Larry Ellison, the co-founder of Oracle.
