Summary

Description
English: This image from a West Point atlas has been rotated so north is at the top, and TwoScarsUp has added more labels to make it easier to read. (Note that the "North arrow" is not perfectly straight "up"—this is correct.) The map shows the positions of the Union and Confederate armies on the Shiloh battlefield around noon on April 6, 1862. The locations of the Crossroads and the Sunken Road are based on maps in "Shiloh and the Western Campaign of 1862" by O. Edward Cunningham including the map on page 220 and text on page 240. West Point's positioning of the Union troops agrees with Cunningham's text on pages 222 and 223.
