Summary

Description
English: The respective territories of the Prince-Bishopric of Basel (aqua) and the Canton of Basel (pink). Since the first half of the 16th century, the prince-bishop had resided in Porrentruy ("Prentru" on the map).
In the 19th century, the city of Basel, which had hitherto been part of the canton, will secede to form a new canton (Basel-Stadt). Cropped from a map of Switzweland published by Homann Heirs in 1751.
