Description

La naissance d'Aphrodite Oeuvre d'Antoine Bourdelle (1861-1929) 1900 marbre Musée du Petit Palais, Paris (déposé au musée Bourdelle) Cette sculpture a été présentée à l'Exposition Universelle de 1900, elle est représentative de la période symboliste d'Antoine Bourdelle.

Cette oeuvre est réalisée dans un style influencé par l'art de Rodin où les formes émergent d'une masse minérale. A cette époque, Antoine Bourdelle travaillait dans l'atelier du maître.

Il semble que le modèle ait été Cléopâtre Sévastos, une de ses élèves d'origine grecque qui deviendra sa deuxième épouse.
