Page describing initial resolutions creating the Anti-Dueling Society of New York in 1809, from an 1809 pamphlet. Store Web page states: "1809 Sermon by Lyman Beecher presenting a Solution to the Problem of Dueling as well as a Report from the first meeting of the "Anti-Duelling Association of New York". This rare American Pamphlet is titled “The Remedy for Duelling. A Sermon, Delivered Before the Presbytery of Long-Island, at the Opening of Their Session, at Aquebogue, April 16, 1806." By Lyman Beecher, A.M. New York, 1809. "To which is annexed, the resolutions and address of the Anti-Duelling Association of New-York.". Printed by J. Seymour. 1st edition, thus. This original, early 19th century American Pamphlet measures approx. 5 1/4" x 8 1/4” and contains 48 pages. Beecher's Sermon was originally published in 1806 but was reprinted here to accompany the official statements issued on August 8th, 1809 on the occasion of the formation of the "Anti-Duelling Association of New-York".
