English: Ever since I was a child I have liked the Botanic Gardens and I still visit about five or six times per year. Thomas Tickell, the famous poet, owned a modest estate in Glasnevin which sold to the Irish Parliament in in 1790 who in turn gave it to the Royal Dublin Society for them to establish the first botanic gardens in Ireland. |
