Another photo from a photo-stop on the Irish Traction Group's railtour "The Bell Viewer" on 23 October 1993. Preserved "B Class" no. 103 which is the sole survivor of this class of 12 locos built by Birmingham Railway Carriage and Wagon Company in 1956/7. Fitted with Metropolitan Vickers engines, unlike other classes such as the "A Class" 001s they were never re-fitted with General Motors engines.
The entire class was withdrawn by 1978 and for many years they were lined up next to the mainline near Inchicore depot to act as a sound barrier. 11 of the class were scrapped between December 1986 and March 1987 with 103 being preserved by the Irish Traction Group.
