Fair use rationale for use in 1 Canadian Mechanized Brigade Group
[edit]This is the emblem of the 1st Canadian Mechanized Brigade Group. When used to illustrate and elaborate an article for which it is the official crest, I believe it falls within fair use. It is being used as an illustration for non profit purposes, it may be copyrighted but as a crest/coat of arms it is intended to be a visual representation of the subject (which it is being used for), it in no way intereferes with the ability of the copyrite owner to distribute the image, and as a work of the Canadian Government it is within the public domain. This image adds greatly to the representation of the subject in question and is not violating any terms of use.
This is a representation of a government, military, regimental, family, or other symbol such as a flag, seal, emblem, coat of arms or crest. This symbol may be copyrighted by its holder. As well, it is known that the representation of this symbol is either copyrighted by the holder of the symbol or is not available under a free licence. There may also be other restrictions on reproduction, including but not limited to article 6ter of the Paris Convention. It is believed that the use of low-resolution images of such symbols
qualifies as non-free use under the Copyright law of the United States. Any other uses of this image, on Wikipedia or elsewhere, may be copyright infringement. See Wikipedia:Non-free content. | |
