English: 160705-N-IN729-244 SOUTH CHINA SEA (July 5, 2016) Aviation Boatswain’s Mate (Handling) 3rd Class (AW/SW) Sarah Atiyyat, from Edison, New Jersey, poses for a photo in the hangar bay of the Navy’s only forward-deployed aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76). Atiyyat is one of many Sailors who has dedicated time and skin to the artwork of tattoos. According to the Pew Research Center, more than 35 percent of American adults between 18 and 25 years old have at least one tattoo. “Tattoos do not define our work ethic,” said Atiyyat. “It’s a beautiful form of art and one of the few ways of expressing ourselves in the military.” Ronald Reagan, the Carrier Strike Group Five (CSG 5) flagship, is on patrol in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of responsibility supporting security and stability in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region.
