Les officiers du corps d'armée d'occupation de Rome - 1863

L'armée française déploie un corps d'occupation à Rome pour protéger les possessions du Pape. Ces troupes sont présentes de 1849 à 1870, sous diverses appellations (corps d'armée d'occupation, division d'occupation...).

En 1863, le corps d'occupation est réduit à une seule division de trois brigade et un régiment de cavalerie (4e régiment de hussards). C'est le général de Montebello qui commande les troupes. Il est photographié ici à Rome, entouré de ses officers d'état major en grande tenue.
