English: Signature of American modernist poet and author H.D. circa 1917. Here she signed her name inside quotation marks, which according to scholar Susan Stanford Friedman was her tendency at the time: "H.D. sometimes used quotation marks around her pen name in the 1910s and early 1920s, but eliminated the marks around "H.D." in her letters by the mid-1920s."
