World Bluegrass Day[1] is an annual observance held on October 1st to celebrate bluegrass music, its cultural heritage, and the musicians and fans who sustain its vibrant tradition. The day aims to raise awareness about bluegrass music, encourage new audiences to explore its rich history, and provide support for its global community of artists, venues, and promoters. An important part of World Bluegrass Day is preserving the historical roots of Bluegrass for future generations to see, hear and understand where Bluegrass started.
World Bluegrass Day was established by Chris Hanscom who recognized the need for a unified day of celebration for this uniquely American genre and highlight both the global influence in creating the genre and the global appeal of bluegrass music. Celebrated around the world[2][3] and by many state bluegrass associations[4][5][6], World Bluegrass Day is helping promote the bluegrass genre.
